Darwin M Rivera-Ortiz
Darwin Michael Rivera-Ortiz is a seasoned sales and operations executive with experience leading complex domestic and international programs across a broad spectrum of projects in cybersecurity and information technology (IT). He leverages on behalf of his clients years of hands-on experience leading implementation of logical and physical access security solutions, custom application development, systems engineering, data centers, and enterprise architecture in health care, financial services, the United States Federal government, other entities in the public sector as well as not-for-profit organizations.
He is currently a Principal Solutions Architect for the Americas at HID Global Corporation (An Assa Abloy Group Company) based in Alexandria, Virginia. In his role he delivers technical solution sales and thought leadership serving clients in Latin America, Financial Services, Health Care and Enterprise.
His skills are prized for his demonstrated ability to link business to technology and help organizations with actionable insights that help them achieve their goals. He is a sought after consultant in the areas of cybersecurity, project and program management, integrated governance risk and compliance, diversity and inclusion, personal branding, mentoring. Through his mentoring initiative “The Virtual Mentor”, he shares his experience navigating the career landscape to students and professionals at all levels.
An Operation Iraqi Freedom, Air Force Veteran and native of Puerto Rico, Mr. Rivera is presently pursuing post-graduate studies at Instituto de Empresa (IE) Business School in Madrid, Spain where he currently works on Information Systems Security research with a focus on Governance, Risk Management and Compliance in regulated environments. One example of his current work include exploring how organizations manage external pressures that apply to the same resources as well as exploring the impact that integrated Governance, Risk and Compliance could exert on an organization’s efforts to balance information security/cybersecurity risks and compliance requirements. He has been a featured speaker at the Federation of Latin American Banks, National Society of Hispanic MBAs annual conferences just to name a few.
