Access to the Internet begins with a reliable, affordable broadband connection — but it also includes equipment essential to allowing disadvantaged communities to put that connection to use, as well as the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital world safely and effectively.
ALLvanza advocates for practical policies that address barriers to technology access and digital skills. Without reliable devices and the ability to use online tools effectively, many individuals are at a disadvantage in school and work. For example, while many people primarily access the internet through smartphones, these devices are often not sufficient for tasks such as completing homework, job applications, and work assignments.
All Americans need to be empowered to integrate technology into their daily lives with confidence. That means not just having the technical skills to operate a particular device, but a sense of how to protect one’s identity online, avoid scams, understand privacy policies, and ensure children are learning to use digital tools safely and responsibly.

Since most serious, chronic health challenges disproportionately affect low-income populations, it is crucial that underserved communities are able to use telehealth as long-distance virtual health care and have access to patient and professional health-related educational resources.
